UK Maths Challenge (UKMC) -
Intermediate is for students aged 13-16
These intermediate UKMC past papers are aimed for students in school years 9, 10 & 11. These papers are designed to cultivate interest in mathematics and a love of problem solving. All papers are produced by the UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT), a registered charity. In this challenge students are required to apply mathematical reasoning, along side basic mathematical techniques to answer 25 multiple-choice questions only. Duration: 60 minutes.
Scoring
Question:1 - 15 you will recieve 5 marks per correct answer.
BUT, lose 1 mark for every incorrect answer.
Question:16 - 25 you will recieve 6 marks per correct answer.
BUT, lose 2 marks for every incorrect answer.
Awards
All students recieve a certificate of participation. The top performers are awarded either a bronze, silver or gold certificate. Several thousand of the highest scoring UK students, are invited to take part in a second multiple choice competition called the Pink Kangaroo (if the student is in year 10 & 11) or grey kangeroo (the student was in year 9 or lower). Entry to this challenge is strictly by invitation by UKMT only.
